A site visit to the Cotterstock Villa.
The walk will be led by Professor Stephen Upex and is kindly facilitated by the Richardson family.
Cotterstock Villa is the largest known Roman villa in the Nene Valley area, discovered by a farm worker 264 years ago. The site visit will cover what is under the ground, the broader landscape and how the villa is set within its’ Roman landscape. Professor Stephen Upex is the author of ‘Romans in the Nene Valley’ (2022), a tutor at Cambridge University and has directed archaeological excavations on Roman and Saxon sites in the East Midlands.
The site visit will last one hour. Tickets are £5 payable on the day ONLY in cash. Directions and parking details will be emailed in advance.
